RON ‘THE YACMAN’ YACOVETTI – BIO

Ron ‘The Yacman’ Yacovetti has a deep history in combat sports, having written for two syndicated Sports Entertainment television shows, “Thunderbox” and “Heavyweight Explosion”; both boxing oriented programs.  Shortly afterwards, Ron had an ongoing, exclusive column as a writer for BoxingInsider.com and TheBleacherReport.com.

In late 2006, The Yacman, as he would soon become better known as, landed the role of Lead Correspondent for the Mixed Martial Arts social networking site, ProElite.com. Ron would soon become synonymous with the site, earning himself the unofficial moniker of ‘The face of ProElite.’ What also helped brand him was his spontaneity on camera, a byproduct of a twelve year career as a professional stand-up comedian.

In his MMA career Ron has interviewed many of the biggest names in the sport, such as Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Tito Ortiz, Frank Shamrock, Gina Carano, Cung Le, Cris Cyborg, Brock Lesnar and more.

Since making his way in MMA, The Yacman has been contracted to do fight commentary for an astounding ‘thirteen fight promotions’ across the USA and Canada, including Art of Fighting (AOF www.artoffighting.tv), MEZ Sports Promotions (Boxing/MMA Hybrid Shows), College Cage Series (www.ccsmma.com) Vegas based promotion, Tuff-N-Uff (www.tuffnuff.net) and most recently The Fight Club (TFC – http://www.thefightlub.ca) based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  There are presently 2 to 3 others currently in talks with him.

In mid 2010 the official Yacman signature t-shirt was unveiled by the all women’s MMA clothing line “Fight Chix” (www.fightchix.com), making Yacovetti the first male to receive this distinctive privilege. The design is a play on the Bruce Lee film title, “Enter the Dragon”, but in this comical homage, has Ron’s face on Bruce’s head, a microphone and Fight Chix tattoo, paired with the words, “Enter the Yacman.”

This, and the fact that The Yacman continues to pursue the “The Yac and J Show”, proves to be quite the year for Yacovetti toward an ever progressing career as an MMA staple.  “The Yac and J Show” is a comedic slant on MMA news, similar in format to the widely popular “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” on Comedy Central.

The Yacman was one of four MMA commentators featured in MMA Worldwide Magazine’s monthly piece, “Expert’s Corner”, which included Frank Trigg, Stephen Quadros and former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Frank Mir. This, in addition to his many other endeavors, brought Yacovetti to acquiring the attention of Sports Agency, VI ENTERTAINMENT (http://vientertainment.com), who specialize in the management and representation of mixed martial arts fighters and personalities, handling personal appearances for various types of events. Ron has made appearances on HDNet’s INISIDE MMA as well as FOX FIGHT GAME, and was also scouted by the WWE for on air broadcast possibilities.
